Payar matyangya Molosyam
This is another delicious simple dish easy to cook and easy to digest food my
gradmas master piece
Ingredients:
Payar (legume gram) – ½ small glass
Matyangya (Red pumpkin) – ¼ kg
Turmeric powder – ½ teaspoon
Red chilli powder – ¾ teaspoon
Curry leaves – few
Coconut oil – 1 teaspoon
Green chilli – 1 or 2
Method:
Pressure cook legume gram for 4 to 5 whistles till nicely
cooked. Cut pumpkin into small pieces with turmeric and red chili powder and
cook it in water once it start boiling add green chilly slitted. Once cooked
add the legume gram. Add
salt cook it. Once done to right consistency switch off add coconut oil and
curry leafs. Close the lid. It goes best with plain steamed rice.
Any permutation and combination of pulses with any pumpkin goes well. Eg
green gram, white pumpkin and Bengal gram. if pumpkin is not that ripe my grandma used to add a pinch of jagery for little sweetness
