Ripe Mango Molosyam Recipe – Kerala Style
Summers during our visit to Kerala. Could feel the aroma of mangoes
around the house. Most of the day’s recipe would be made up of mangoes or jackfruit.
My grandma used to make variety of dishes from mangoes. I used to also see her
having the ripe sweet mangoes with rice and milk for lunch. I used to get
mesmerized with this unique combination. But she used to love it.
This recipe too made up of sweet mangoes. It’s a sweet sour and spicy
dish. Dont know why mooloshyam name has been given to these type of recipe. This concept of mooloshyam is usually seen in south of kerala like Thrissur ,palakad district. But all mooloshyam recipes are just cooking any vegetables of your choice with a dash of coocnut oil on it with curry leaves. It's easy to make and quick and a top family comfort food.
Ingredients
- Mango in small pieces – ½ kg
- Turmeric powder – ½ teaspoon
- Red chilli powder – ¾ teaspoon
- Curry leaves – few
- Coconut oil – 1 teaspoon
- Green chilli – 1 or 2
Method:
Cut ripe mango turmeric and red
chili powder and cook it in water once it start boiling add green chilly
slitted. Add salt cook it. Once done switch off add coconut oil and curry
leafs. Close the lid. It goes best with plain steamed rice
