Tapioca (Kappa) Molosyam Recipe – Kerala Style
Now a days Tapioca is
the very moving item in 5star restaurants where it is served normally with fish
curry (Kappa meen curry). Tapioca is locally grown in Kerala state and mostly
grown in households. Because it’s in
high in carbs and calories. It’s prepared in every house in Kerala. This recipe
again is a simple and easy dish to cook. Because my grandma was vegetarian it’s
her version recipe. In those days in my grandma’s
house there used to be many people for lunch including her helping people.
Ingredients:
- Kappa (Tapioca) – ½ kg
- Turmeric powder – ½ teaspoon
- Red chilli powder – ¾ teaspoon
- Curry leaves – few
- Coconut oil – 1 teaspoon
- Green chilli – 1 or 2
Method:
Cut tapioca and put in water with turmeric before cooking. Drain out
that water. In a pot cook it in clear water with turmeric. One
should be careful while cooking it in pressure cooker as there are changes
tapioca getting smashed. When nicely cooked add green chilly red chilli powder
and let it boil add salt to taste. When it comes to right consistency don’t too
watery. Once done switch of the flame and add curry leaves and coconut oil.
Close the lid. It goes best with plain rice.
