Ada /ela Ada Sweet Steamed rice parcel in Banana Leafs
Grandma used to always say when my mom was a kid in those days there was
barter system so currency was used less to buy things. People used to come in
bullock cart with rice and pulses and things grown abandon was given to them.
So there used to rice and coconut abandon at home. So snacks too were made with
rice and coconut.
Ada or Ela Ada, is a Traditional Kerala (South India)
delicacy. It is made of coconut and brown sugar (jaggery), which is layered inside the rice paste in banana leaf and steamed in
a steamer or idly vessel. It can be prepared with jaggery or sugar. Ada
with jaggery are very sweet which I don’t prefer so in this recipe I am using
sugar. It’s very easy and tastes yum….
