Chakkakuru padavalangya mezhukavarti (Jackfruit seeds with snake guard )

Jackfruit are grown in every household in kerala. So Jackfruit seeds are mostly one of the ingredient during summer season in all dishes for lunch. During my visit to kerala in childhood I have the memory of we kids sitting with all ladies at home after lunch helping to segregate  jackfruit and seeds separately. Because jackfruit has an sticky gum on it Amma used to give coconut oil to apply on hand before we touched the fruit. Aroma of coconut oil and jackfruit used to be heaven. Then the seeds used to be cleaned and stored to be used in various kerala dishes for lunch. This side dish is one among them.
