Payar (Red Beans ) mezhukavarti
Mezhukavarathi is form of side dish in which there is not much masala and coconut added .In this recipe I am using vanpayar (red beans ) This is a side dish accompanied with any curry. This red beans can be accompanied with raw banana or cluster beans or yam to make this dish. It goes well with curry based on curd like pullisery or pachadi . I love to have it with curd rice and pickle.
Ingredients
· Red beans 1cup

Turmeric powder 1/4tsp
·
Chilly powder 1/2tsp
·
Salt & Coconut oil as required
For Tadka
·
Rai 1tsp
·
Redchilly 2no
·
Coconut oil
·
Small onion fewslice
1 Curry leaves
Method
In kadai add little coconut oil add tadka ingredients once spluttered add chopped onion curry leafs and saute for few seconds. Then add cooked red beans cook it and let it absorb all the water content . Make it dry . Switch off the flame add a dash of coconut oil on top and cover it. This is my gradmas tip . The aroma of the dish travels the whole house.
