Aari Unda (Rice ladoo)

 

Aari unda is one such nostalgic recipe which I have connected with my childhood memory. My grandma use to prepare it and store it in big jars. During my childhood used to come down to Kerala we cousins used to  meet at grandma’s house during summer vacation we used to steal from grandmas kitchen n eat it during afternoon when elders will be taking a nap.  So feel splendid while having it. This is an easy recipe with only 3 ingredients. 

My mom used to say in her childhood these grinding were done manually in a special stone huge vessel with long stick. So grinding all powders were done at home. Rice being staple food in Kerala. Rice powder was an important for breakfast and snack recipes. This is one such healthy ladoo which was grinded at home and prepared in huge quantities. In this recipe I am using Electrical mixie. Still miss the taste we use get in traditional grinders.


Ingredients:

 
Raw rice 1cup

Jaggery powder 1/2cup

Coconut ½ portion grated

 

Method:

In a kadai raw rice is roasted nicely on slow flame till rice turn little brown and nice aroma comes. Once cooled add to grinder all three ingredients because it has coconut in it no need to add any fat like ghee to it.
