Kerala Padavalangya(Snakegourd) Thoran



Thorans are traditional style dry side dish with coconut in it.   Any thoran goes awesome with curd rice and a pickle. Every Kerala household this is one of the favourite thoran. My mom normally use to prepare this with sambhar .


Ingredients

Snake guard 1

Turmeric Powder 1/4tsp

Salt to taste

For grinding

Coconut 1/4cup

Shallots 4-5 nos

Jeera a pinch

Green chilly 2no

Tadka

Coconut oil 1tbsp

Curry leafs

Rai 1 tsp.

Dry red chilly 2no

 

Method

Chop the Padaval and keep aside. Grind coconut with other ingredients a In a kadai add the items of tadka once rai splutters add the chopped padaval turmeric and salt. Add little water cover it and let it cook. Once cooked and water gets evapourated add the  grinded paste . Cover it and let it cook for 2minutes in low flame.  Switch off the flame. It’s served with steamed rice  . Thoran has a large variety any vegetable can be used like cabbage ,beetroot, beans etc
