Avil / flatten rice/ poha is a common in India its available in Red and white colour. In kerala mostly red flatten rice is used as red rice is grown in abundance and its said that it has lots of nutrients. It can be eaten raw with milk /water. Avil nanachada
is one such nostalgic recipe which I have connected with my childhood memory. My grandma use to prepare it  as an evening snack. It can be prepared with jaggery and sugar.  During my childhood used to come down to Kerala we cousins used to  meet at grandma’s house during summer vacation and  eat it during evening as a healthy snack .  So feel splendid while having it today also.  This is an easy and healthy recipe with only 4 ingredients.

Ingredients:

Avil /flatten rice – 1cup

Sugar – 3 -4 tbs

Coconut gated – ½ cup

Cardamom powder – 1/4tsp

Method

Normally I wash the flatten rice once and put it in strainer to remove the excess water. Keep it for few minutes and transfer to large bowl. You should be careful because too much moisture will make the dish soggy. Add the other ingredients to the bowl and mix well . cover and keep aside for 5 minutes. All flavours will be blended well.

Jaggery powder 1/2cup

Coconut ½ portion grated

Method:

In a kadai raw rice is roasted nicely on slow flame till rice turn little brown and nice aroma comes. Once cooled add to grinder all three ingredients because it has coconut in it no need to add any fat like ghee to it.
